The National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) has reported that 56% of diseases in India are linked to diets. To counter this, NIN has released 17 dietary guidelines to promote healthy diets and lifestyles, ward off nutrient deficiencies, and reduce non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like heart disease, fatty liver, and others.
A lot of the advice given is already covered in TBR’s educative sessions (like dietary diversity, good proteins, nutrition literacy and others); and it is a validation of sorts to see the same concepts endorsed by the nation’s premier public health and nutrition research centre.
